So, the other week I went to Chicago for the weekend with my boyfriend to visit some friends. We had the best time together there. One of the highlights from the weekend was this hidden, secret and elegant bar called the Violet Hour. Wow. From the exterior to the inside you feel like you have just walked through the secret wardrobe closet in the lion the witch and the wardrobe. You would never know what lies inside by walking by the exterior of the building. In fact, I’m sure many people walk by not even knowing it is a building that you can enter. It’s like a hidden treasure. You walk into a building delicately decorated with high ceilings that hang velvet curtains. It’s dark and lit only by candles. The chairs are high and evoke deep conversation while sipping on handcrafted drinks. The best things I have ever tasted. If you are in the mood for something very fresh and light to the taste, anybody would delve and delight in the Juliet and Romeo. It’s a gin drink with beefeater, mint, cucumber, and rose water. The service in unbelievable, the workers could tell you anything about any of the menus from years past, which they change every six months. This bar continuously blew me away. I hesitate to tell you more details because I would like to keep this place a secret, but if you are ever in the area everybody should experience this one of a kind bar.
Fresh Look.
Today is the launch date of my latest passion combined with other loves of my life. Fashion. I don’t think that fashion necessarily comes from a specific region, although it does rotate around the globe and decades. I am a believer of comfort, yet class. Throw in a little thrifty and bam! You are set. This blog’s theme is basically going to consist of a new theme each post…I’ll explain my thought process and why I think it deserves to be posted as well as easy tips to throw something together at home when you think you don’t have anything at all. You always want your friends closets or have a desire to buy a new wardrobe because you just get sick of wearing the same thing. This blog is hopefully going to be helpful to those who think this and to broaden your horizons to be more creative with what you already have.
Another reason I am sitting at the edge of my seat and am so eager to start this new blog is because my love will be taking the photos. He is one amazingly gifted photographer that has been blessed with an amazing eye (well two really;0)).
Being the youngest of four girls growing up I didn’t have just one closet, I had four to work with. This gave me the opportunity to have multiple options when picking out an outfit and unknowingly is the start of my passion for fashion.
This weeks theme is going to be neutral. I love combining tans, greens, and browns together. Since we are in the middle of winter changing to spring, I think this is a safe ground to start on. I live in Asheville, NC, and I feel like the atmosphere here is very relaxed. People don’t get all decked out to walk the streets. There is a wide range of people here. It is a very artsy and hippie town. I also see a lot of people off of the AT since it’s so close by. So you’ll see people with their backpacks and tents strapped to their back and dirty boots with dreads. I love it. I love the diversity and that people feel comfortable in their own skin. It’s a very attractive quality. I think it’s a quality you need to have day in and day out. That is the secret to wearing anything really. If you aren’t comfortable wearing your new showy dress you just bought at the boutique down the street, people are going to be able to tell and it will look a little awkward and you won’t feel comfortable in it. I start with neutral because I feel very comfortable wearing these colors. You can dress it up with a little splash of color in maybe a scarf, shoes, earrings, or belt but I wouldn’t go too overboard with all that. I would stick with your neutral outfit and stay content with that. This is something I came up with that is very simple but fashionable all in one.
